Hammerhead | Need For Energy | No Failure Run
5From things like nigh invulnerable floating skulls that you have to stare at so it won't nick your neck to cyborg midwives who shoot at you with automatic rifles, there's a lot about this mod's gameplay that would play nicely with the ol' wirejamming jamboree. Okay, granted, the zombies are a bit insufferable to deal with, being practically impossible to fight with melee compared to its predecessors, but the rest are still fun enough to play against.
I had initially only did this map out of testing reasons and was going to find a proper urban mapset that I could spookiticize, but I just couldn't find any that's decent enough. Figured running the testing grounds'll be enough to start off for the moment. A lot of vanilla HL1 entities are still kept in Hammerhead, despite its own custom enemies, so I can see myself mixing reskins here and there depending on the theming.
As for the map itself, I quite liked it. It's a somewhat non-linear setup with you needing to "do objectives" rather than a linear A-to-B deal. Does make it tricky to determine what's a good path to go through first, because the switching that some enemies do in Hammerhead causes certain loadouts to go badly if you pursue one particular direction, but it's just the risk one has to take when it comes to these things. Helps that you can have HEV batteries here, hah.
