Note: i got this game through Woovit.com. I'd like to thank the woovit.com team for providing me the code so i could cover the game.

This is Hanako: Honor & Blade. This is a Multiplayer hack and slash game, where you are pitted against other warriors in a giant death match scenarios.

This is one of those diamond in the rough scenarios. The game is really good for an early access game. It's got some problems but you can tell a lot of love and effort went into this project.

The devs themselves mention that the project began through hardship, and their passion with the creation of the game is clearly evident.

In the Early access version you can play 3 different characters. The Kenshi, Naginatashi, and the Ninja. All 3 character classes are unique and have their own style of combat.

Ninjas use the Kusarigama weapon, are quick but fragile, and resort to trickery

Naginatashi warriors use the Naginata weapon, are bulky and slow, but have wide powerful moves, and can buff their teammates

Kenshi warriors follow the way of the sword, are quite offensive, and focus on being the first line of offense in a team.

Each class has their strengths and weaknesses, but the ninjas are overpowered as they move so fast when they attack. There are balancing issues as mentioned before, but hopefully it can be fixed when the game fully launches.

The combat is pretty fleshed out. With two different stances varying the attacks in terms of speed and strength. There is a block feature along with perfect parries for skilled play, and use of special moves to deal devastating damage. You can meditate in between fight to recover ki and lost health, a needed feature as many fight will leave you with no health.

The thing that will hook you immediately are the graphics and visual style. It's vibrant and cell shaded. Looks stunning on max settings and plays great. The japanese architecture on many of the maps are a sight to behold. Though we do need more maps in the game for the final release.

Customization for characters are not there in the early access, and hopefully they add it in the full game, along with more character classes.

Sadly when i got to check the game out on two separate occassions, no one was playing the game. Maybe i'm too late and already am past the early access testing phase. The bots don't provide the challenge that I was craving as they all die too quickly. But based on what I've seen with the game's combat and mechanics, you can bet there will be chaotic fun to be had when the game fully launches

Lastly the animations for some moves are a bit wonky to look at. Hopefully this gets fixed in the final build.

If anyone would like to play online with me, please do let me know as I'd love to get in some action!

Cheers
