Handheld Fighting Games of 95/99 - Mortal Kombat 3 (Game Boy)
Mortal Kombat 3 for the Game Boy is a scaled-down version of Midway’s 1995 arcade fighting game. While maintaining the core concept of players battling through a series of fights against Shao Kahn’s forces, the Game Boy version is significantly limited in content and features due to hardware constraints.
Only nine of the original 15 characters are playable: Kano, Sonya, Sub-Zero, Cyrax, Sektor, Sheeva, Sindel, Kabal, and Smoke. Motaro is absent, and Shao Kahn reuses moves from Mortal Kombat II. Limited to five stages and lacks gameplay features such as button-link combos and interactive levels. The game retains Fatalities and Babalities but omits Animalities and other finishing moves. Some Fatalities feature a "burning" effect where defeated opponents are reduced to a charred skeleton. #gaming #videogames #fightinggames
