Handheld Fighting Games of 95/99 - Killer Instinct
Killer Instinct is a 2D fighting game developed by Rare and published by Midway and Nintendo. Set in a futuristic world controlled by the corrupt megacorporation Ultratech, the game revolves around a brutal fighting tournament featuring both human warriors and experimental fighters, including the monstrous Eyedol.
The game is known for its combo-heavy mechanics, including Ultra Combos, combo breakers, and finishing moves, along with 3D-rendered sprites and a techno soundtrack. Players can choose from ten fighters, including Jago, Orchid, Fulgore, and Sabrewulf.
Originally released in arcades (1994), it was later ported to the SNES (1995) and Game Boy (1995), with the latter having significant cuts due to hardware limitations, these cuts included overall visuals, controls as well as roster size with Cinder and Riptor axed from the Game Boy version. #gaming #videogames #fightinggames
