As an old school fan of Hardcore Gaming, this book perfectly encapsulates everything I loved about early internet fan sites and collecting old games. A fair amount of these games were mentioned or covered back in the day, but it was all so new and fresh at the time, when we didn't have instant access to digital libraries and wiki entries on tiny companies that only released six games between 1987 to 1996.
Despite knowing, playing, or owning a fair amount of games included in this book, it amazes me that all these years later there are STILL games I've barely heard of, let alone come across in the wild.
Another nice fact about this book is all the info on the behind the scenes movers and shakers involved with these games. Definitely a few names I recognize, but also plenty of new ones to learn about as well.
I miss the days of combing through piles of old SNES stuff languishing on shelves in Akihabara for under 500 yen though.
