Hardcore Mode - Paper Mario Part 8 (GAUNTLET ROAD)
0The second game in the Hardcore Mode series, this will be very different to Mario 64. Most of the challenges have a more gradual effect on gameplay (although that is not always the case). Watch me fail at video games once more... Now with terrible voice-acting!
I have set designated checkpoints in the game where the challenge will change (I explain this somewhat in the video). Unlike Paper Mario, I will not be using a challenge more than once.
Also, during each part of the game I must only level up one particular stat (e.g. I can only level up FP until I reach Toad Town for the first time).
Here are all the challenges featured in this series:
NO USING FP
Exactly what it says, Mario and his Partners cannot use any attacks that require FP. Usually I switch off FP Badges just to make sure I don't use an FP attack accidentally.
ALWAYS USE FP
Mario and his Partners can only use attacks that require FP. This makes the game extremely challenging - especially when Mario runs out of Honey Syrups!
NO USING ITEMS
Again, exactly what it says. I usually just deposit all my Items in the Shop during this challenge.
DON'T BUY ITEMS OR BADGES
Similar to the previous one, this one is sure to slow me down somewhat.
NO SUPER BLOCKS
Not leveling my Partners makes the tasks ahead much more difficult.
FIGHT ALL ENEMIES
I can't leave an area without fighting every single Enemy. It's repetitive (and I will probably cut most of it out) but it's sure to slow me down and make things difficult.
NEWEST PARTNER ONLY
I can only use my most recent Partner. Since some enemies are easily defeated with certain partners, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
ALWAYS USE SP
The only attacks I can use are Star Spirit attacks. This relies on Star Power and is sure to slow me down.
AVOID ALL ENEMIES
I have to dodge and run away from all standard enemies. This will have a gradual effect and make things tougher later on due to lack of experience.
NO USING SP
Since a few Star Spirits can replenish health and FP, this will put me in a tough spot when I run out of items.
GOOMBARIO ONLY
Goombario's attacks are pretty lackluster in comparison to some of the later partners, so this is sure to make things tough. Also, I freakin' hate Goombario.
There will be a final challenge in Bowser's Castle that will be revealed later in the series.
