Teldrassil is a zone located atop a massive World Tree off the northern coast of Kalimdor, the tree itself being hosted in an island of the same name. Teldrassil was grown by Archdruid Fandral Staghelm as a desperate measure after the second invasion of the Burning Legion, in an attempt to regain immortality for the Night Elves. Although the tree successfully grew, it was not blessed by the Dragonflights, which left it susceptible to corruption by the Emerald Nightmare.

Teldrassil is the starting zone for the Night Elves, and contains both their starting zone, Shadowglen, and their capital city, Darnassus. Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm and Tyrande Whisperwind act as leaders for the Night Elves. As a starting zone, Teldrassil is intended for level 1-10 Alliance players.

Trivia:
Teldrassil's name means "crown of the Earth" in Darnassian, the Night Elven language. The name Teldrassil is likely based off Yggdrasil, the tree of life in nordic mythology.
The only way for Horde players to get to Teldrassil is by riding a boat from Auberdine in Darkshore.
In-game, Teldrassil looks like a stump, but this is due to engine limitations. In official artworks of the game, Teldrassil is shown as a fully grown tree.
