Hare vs. Tortoise Splatfest (Part 2) - Splatoon 2 (スプラトゥーン2)
1Who would win in a race: the Hare or the Tortoise? This Splatoon 2 Splatfest seeks to answer this difficult dilemma. In a series of Turf War matches, my teammates and I try to have the most ink on the ground when time runs out. The stakes are high when we’re united for this important cause!
This Splatfest is a big deal to me because it represents two very different life philosophies. For me, the slow but steady Tortoise represents hard work and perseverance. If you want to accomplish anything big in life, whether it’s running a marathon, writing a novel, creating a thriving YouTube channel, or achieving your dream career, you can’t do it with a short spurt of energy, what the Hare represents. Rather, you need to push yourself to keep on going every single day, even when the going gets tough, even when you feel drained. To run a marathon, you practice every day until the big race. To write a novel, you outline it, carefully draft it, and then revise it dozens and dozens of times. To make a thriving YouTube channel, you keep uploading videos even though you only have a single-digit number of subscribers for the first month or so. To achieve your dream career, you need to keep plodding forward in your education and training, even in the parts you don’t love so much. Ultimately, a short burst of inspiration will get you nothing but incomplete projects and goals, much like how the Hare gets tired or complacent before finishing its race. But a consistent effort to move forward will get you to your goals and beyond, as the Tortoise knows well.
