IoT is everywhere and the diversity of devices and sensors is overwhelming.
This leads to difficulties with the massive amount of different payload formats, APIs, and proprietary protocols.
The main issue is how to ensure that this diversity of connected devices can seamlessly communicate with platforms and applications, regardless of the different technologies, and systems.

In this session, we will talk about payload mapping with the open-source project Eclipse Vorto, which solves exactly these types of problems.

After a quick, high-level introduction to Vorto, we will do a full End-to-End integration to give you a practical overview of the capabilities of Vorto.
One thing worth noting is that we will accentuate the usage of device payload mappings to reshape arbitrary data into a normalized format which simplifies further using this data for visualization or analytics.

In the demo, we will show you how Vorto Models are used to convert device-specific payload, provided by Eclipse Hono Adapters, into normalized payload which is then exposed as an Eclipse Ditto API.
In the end, we will show you how IoT solutions can benefit from this normalization by displaying the device data in a dashboard.

Objective of the presentation:
Introducing the audience to a project that will change the way they abstract their IoT device payloads using Eclipse Kura, Hono, and Ditto. We will define the scope of features and establish an understanding of the concepts of payload mapping. The full end to end device integration and payload mapping demo will display the simplicity of using Eclipse Vorto.
