Has Blizzard Killed F2P WoW?
Hey guys, just a wrap up on what's up with WoW F2P this side of the Dragonflight Expansion patch.
First off I discuss PvP at 20 forcing us to play predominantly against level 29 subscribed twinked characters. Back in Shadowlands 20-29 bracket had levellers, 20f2p and 29twinked all playing side by side.
Then PvP being inaccessible for level-capped (via slahtz/behsten) trial players. Denying access to 11-19 twinked PvP on much fairer grounds vs subscribed players.
Next I mention PvE, and the positives carried over from Shadowlands levelling chromie time. F2Pers can still use chromie time to access level scaled quests for all prior content* (*Shadowlands only available for ex-subscribed "veteran account" characters) and queue for dungeons in one legacy expansion at a time just like subscribed players.
BUT then I cover the fact that ONLY CLASSIC and WOD queues can have boss-dropped items upgrade roll to epic, along with the dungeon quest rewards that stretch from Classic to Pandaria (but are a limited source). I also mention that on some pieces found from classic boss-drops and the pre-Pandaria quest-rewards are not completely optimal due to missing stats. However, the weapons from classic often have an extra effect on top of full stats.
I didn't cover the fact that BC boss and quest drops can have extra sockets, meaning that in theory it has the best rare pieces at a given level. Given that only the quest rewards can upgrade to epic, WoD and Classic are better long-term sources of gearing.
