Has freedom of speech died on Reddit and Twitter? - TGG topics
38In this episode of “Topic of the week”, i´m going to talk about the recent events with censorship on Twitter and Reddit. I´m going to start with Reddit however, since that´s the biggest issiue at the moment.
So i´m going to walk you guys through each and every part about Reddit, which would be the new harassing rules, the angry rants, fatpeoplehate and Ellen Poa. So I sure hope that you guys have taken your seats, and that you´re comfy and all that.
Because this is going to be one hell of a ride. So let´s get the show on the road shall we?
Well, let´s start with Ellen Poa, as Poa is the center of things regarding censorship and having subbreddits being shut down on Reddit. But who is Ellen Poa? What does she want? And what has she done to Reddit?
First things first, Ellen Poa is the current CEO of Reddit, and she´s also an American lawyer. Other than that, she´s probarly most wellknown for her discrimination case against venture capital firm “Kleiner Perkins”, a case which Poa lost by the way.
Well, there´s no crime in that right? Sure, but here´s the thing. When Ellen Poa took over as CEO for Reddit
back in November 2014. A new age of censorship was brought into the world of Reddit. Which would include having subbreddits and people banned from Reddit. And that sucks
And that´s probarly why Many Reddit users even compare Ellen Poa to Mao Zedong and Kim Jong Un. So now I understand why the Reddit community miss the former Reddit CEO Yishan Wong.
And that would of course explain why the whole reddit frontpage was full of rants and parodies of Ellen Pao this morning. So with that said, please enjoy the video folks =)
