HDR10 Signal Injection and the RetroTINK 5X Pro - On/Off Comparisons
The Ultimate Fusion of New and Old. Retro Gaming and High Dynamic Range! Kinda. So the RetroTINK 5X Pro gained the power to inject an HDR Signal Flag into its output. This tricks your TV or Monitor (Assuming it is HDR Capable)into going to it's HDR Picture Mode. Note that the content itself is NOT HDR, but the signal flag means the Screen switches to its HDR Picture Mode, changing the brightness and gamma processing.
This gives a boost in brightness, which is great for CRT Emulation. With the new base-brightness, the image does a better job shining through Scanlines.
In this video: I'll show examples of what these brighter settings can look like, along with side by sides with HDR Flagging on and off, with and without Scanlines. Remember that the content itself isn't actual HDR Content, what is happening is the TV (Or Capture Card in my case) is switching to an HDR Mode.
*These examples should not be treated as a "Best Showing" or "Definitive Example." The way this content will look will vary from display to display, and the amount of settings adjustments you can tweak with the 5X Pro are vast. This all just to provide a basic idea of this feature.
*Important Call-Out: YouTube's compression does takeaway a lot of detail that is seen in person that devices like RetroTINK, RAD2X, CARBY, and more output. Bear that in mind with any content containing capture footage from those devices. My commentary and opinions come from the Raw Capture Files and what it looks like on my TV, I can't account for what details are lost to compression until after the video is uploaded.
