Headlander is weird, but good. First i thought it is more of a puzzle-game then a platformer, but this was just because the game did teach me how to play it.
After you get away with your escape pod, it reveals the Metroid like gameplay. But the controls work different here. So with your Left Thumb-Stick you move around, with your right Thumb-Stick you can aim in a 360° circle around your character. To jump you press...nothing, there is no jump button. Here comes the point where the game is unique.
Your character is only a head, with a rocket engine. So your head can fly freely around, just that the doors won't open, no matter how hard you know with your nogging at it. But as head you get something like a short ranged tractor beam, to pull off the heads of the robot NPC or Enemies, then you land your head on the free body and voilà, you got yourself a nice body to move around. The enemies even got weapon, which you can use as long you're attached to the body. These enemies are basically guard robots of the station and based on their color they got access to doors of the same colour, or the colour before.
If you die in this game, you reset the room where you died and can try it again, so even though this all seems a bit complicated, the game so far is easy to handle.
