Hotshot Racing is a arcade racing game, which seems to be influenced by Virtua Racing, just with more details in the graphics. Also a cleaner look.
The game comes with a pretty hefty rubberband AI, which might be a result of the slipstream boost you get behind other cars.

So to the controls, the game heavily relies that you drift through the more sharper turns. You do that by tapping the break button, so you start to drift. This slows you down a bit, but you get better through these turns. Drifting also charges your boost meter, which you can use to gain a small speedboost for about 2 or 3 seconds. This is best to used, when you already got a speedboost through the slipstream of another racer.

You can choose between a set of characters, which all got their own voicelines. On my second tournament i chose another character and got a new set of cars to choose from, but i'm not sure if the choice of cars based on the character, or if it's based on the tournament.

For Winning a race you get price money, which you can spend on cosmetic items for these cars and for different outfits for the drivers.
