Hell Pie is an upcoming 3D platformer by German developers Sluggerfly and is releasing later this year. Imagine A hat in time or mario sunshine, but add in some grotesquely violent cartoony visuals from Conker’s bad fur day, and well, here we are. A demo was just made available, and I gotta say that this looks and plays amazingly! Playing as Nate and Nugget, a cute little demon and a fat little angel chained together for unspecified reasons, we are setting out to make the most disgusting pie in the universe… again.,. for .. reasons... You move through the levels with your good ol’ double jump and dashing, but using your angel-baby-blob on a chain you can swing through the air, gaining ridiculous hang time, making traversing the environment super fun. The controls are super smooth both within tight spaces and in open areas, which is often a downfall of these types of games when the camera suddenly has a life of its own and starts to focus on stuff in the neighbouring post code, but I had no issues here whatsoever! The demo presented a single semi-linear sewer level with some… interesting… visuals… and then transferring you to the first of 4 hub worlds where I got to explore for 15 minutes. Which leads me to my only complaint about the game: I want more! Now! Lets see that German work ethic and lets get this lovely cartoony violence on the market! The game is planned to be released on PC and consoles later in 2022.
