This was a commercial add-on developed by Wraith Corporation and published by WizardWorks, including maps created by multiple community members. There are also new graphics for textures, as well as some monsters and weapons. The story of this partial conversion appears to take place 200 years after the events of Doom 2, where everything on Earth was thought to be peaceful again, until a race of demonic aliens had appears and took over Io, then coming for Earth and taking over it. Those who died were the lucky ones, and those who lived became slaves under the demons. It was then up to the main character to free the Earth of these new demons. The rest of the story is explained through the intermission screens (besides the unchanged story text from the base game) rather than simply displaying the name of the next level.
