Hellblade Xbox Series X vs Xbox One X - Frame Rate And Load Time Comparison - A Masterclass Upgrade!
199Hellblade was easily one of the best looking games of the last generation. Although a multiplatform release, Hellblade's Xbox One X version was the best of the lot. But now, an optimized version of Hellblade has been made available for the Xbox Series X, and there are a number of exciting upgrades under the hood which makes this the best version of Hellblade on consoles. Before we move forward, note that we analysed the performance by taking some sample scenes from the game and running it through trdrop, an open source software. Note that this tool gives us a mere demonstration of the game’s performance, because an exact 1:1 representation of performance can only be provided by the developers themselves since they have access to a vast array of tools and profilers.
Just like the Xbox One X version, the Xbox Series X version of Hellblade features three different modes, Resolution, Enriched Visuals and Performance mode. For this analysis, we will be testing out the first two modes but Performance mode targets 120 fps for supported television sets. In both Resolution and Enriched Visuals modes, the game employs a dynamic resolution. In resolution mode the game targets 60 frames per second at a dynamic 4K resolution while in Enriched Visuals mode, Hellblade runs at 30 frames per second and at a dynamic 4K resolution. The Xbox One X version on the other hand ran at 30 frames per second and dynamic 4K in resolution mode and Enriched visuals mode.
Other than the difference in resolution and frame rate, the Xbox Series X' enriched visuals uses ray tracing along with better overall lighting compared to the Xbox One X version. Last but not least, the load times have been drastically reduced on Xbox Series X.
