6Have you heard about Her Innocence Dolores Dei? In our newest episode we dive into the political and religious history of Disco Elysium by looking at a glass window.
There is a surprising amount to learn from simply looking at a stained glass window. As it turns out the savior depicted is none other than Her Innocence Dolores Dei.
An Innocence is apparently a mix between a saint and an elected dictator, an "embodiment of the World Spirit". Once elected by the Founding Party they are the single ruler of the world until their death.
After rising quickly through the court she became the chief adviser for Irene La Navigateur, Queen of Suresne and also the kingly figure featured on the lower half of the stained glass window. Together they set up expeditions into the Pale and shortly after they returned Dolores Dei was crowned Innocence.
Also known as the mother of humanism, internationalism and the welfare state, Dolores Dei ruled for 22 years until she was shot by one of her own service men. He believed her to be an alien. And the case for her inhuman nature is not as absurd as you may think.
