Heretic Steam Remake by Nightdive - Gauntlets fling you across the map!
0So, I have the remake of Heretic and Hexen that I got for free because I own the originals on Steam. Thanks Nightdive!
So far, it's excellent. I'm really having fun playing Heretic again with mouse look and at full HD. But, there's definitely some things I don't like. The big one for me is the fonts. The original Heretic had a beautiful, custom font and this remake has Arial in black boxes. Bleh!
But, more notably, using the gauntlets on an enemy sends you and that enemy flying backwards. This happens because the gauntlets pull you into enemies and, all the weapons have damage based knockback. Not something I ever even thought about before but, I guess they killed that knockback somehow while using the gauntlets in original.
Hopefully they patch that out and we can get some less eye gouging fonts in the future. But, I dunno guys? Tell me what you think in the comments below. ^_^
