After mission 1, Zehir has become modestly powerful as a mage, and his special ability starts to become significant: Zehir summons elementals (the type based on the terrain the battle takes place) whenever one of his army stacks is destroyed. This can lead to interesting tactics, such as illustrated in this video.
The AI is smart enough to target only "real" stacks, not summoned ones that will disappear after battle. Therefore, only a few disposable units are deployed. Also, the fast-flying air elementals are key to blocking the liches and preventing them from using their poison rays.
