What’s up, everyone? Hope you all have had a good gaming week. This week’s indie game suggestion is a game I feel won’t get enough love. SO I’M HERE TO SHOW IT A LITTLE SUPPORT. Today, we are checking out Hidden Through Time, a game developed and published by Rogueside.

Before we start talking about this game I want you to think back to your early years in school. I’m probably aging myself here but this was way back… before we had computers… before we even had internet. Before there was entertainment in the palm of our hands one hundred percent of the time, we had books. One of my favorites was the Where’s Waldo series of books. Every page was chock-full of people taking part in activities in town or at the beach. Your goal was simply to find this weirdo named Waldo. He was always hidden so well and there were plenty of people dressed like him to throw you off his scent. Eventually, you’d find him and you could move on to the next scene.

That is what Hidden Through Time is all about except that instead of one guy, you’re looking for several people or objects given to you on each level. Now listen, I know this isn’t what you might think of as fun when you think of video games. You wanna have a great story or charge into scenarios guns blazing. So if that’s what you’re looking for, this game probably isn’t for you. This is more a chill, sit back and relax type game. A game you might play with family and friends while they come to visit or a game you can play with your kids. It’s a great game to just throw up on the living big screen and have a family game night, helping each other spot the items you’re looking for.

You’ll start the game in the Stone Age looking for objects like spears and dinosaur eggs. Then move on through time to find other objects in Egypt, The Middle Ages, and The Wild West. It’s up to you to find every object hidden through time.

There are 26 levels in the main campaign of Hidden Through Time. Starting off small so that your first targets are a little easier to find and then growing drastically level by level so that things become harder to find. At the start of each level, you’ll have a list of items located at the bottom of your screen. Each item has a little hint to help you find where it is hidden and that is where the fun comes in. Read the hint and discuss where you think that might be located within the level. Since many things look the same to throw you off, it’s actually fun to discuss where things might be and why you think they might be in a certain location. You keep searching until you spot the item and can claim you were right all along.

Your controls are simple. Use the right stick to move around the screen. Use the left stick to control your hand and choose where you think an item is located. The left and right bumpers can be used to switch between items you’re looking for and the hints that go along with each item. Using the triggers you can zoom in and out of an area to scan the surrounding area or get a close-up look when you think you might be close to finding a certain object.

The game has this cuteness to it thanks to bright colors and funny sounds people and items make when you click on them. You can even open up houses, tents, and other buildings to see what might be hiding inside. Sometimes it might be the item you’ve been looking for or other times it might just be a silly-looking scenario with characters arguing or fighting inside.

There’s not much more to say about this game. It’s a simple idea executed perfectly. While it might not be a huge triple-A game that everyone goes on and on about, it is a good-looking fun game that does exactly what it sets out to do.

You can pick up Hidden Through Time on every gaming platform for $7.99. They even have mobile versions on Android and iOS for $2.99. They even recently added 3 DLC packs each being sold for $1.99. You can get all the info you need at their website linked below.

Overall, as I said, I know this isn’t a game that is going to mesh well with everyone but that doesn’t make it a bad game. It’s a great game that has a very specific gamer in mind, but maybe that gamer is you. So if you’re interested in checking this game out, give it a shot and help support indie games.

As always, I hope you all have a great gaming weekend and I’ll see ya here again next Friday.
