What kind of D&D game do you like to play Low levels, high levels, or somewhere in between? Do your prefer something different as a PC then you do as the DM? What kind of game master style do you have? Does it favor epic level play or player characters just getting started in their adventuring career? I've always liked slogging through the low levels and developing my character as the game unfolds. It's also a lot less work when doing the character creation.
