High Seas Havoc - Sega Genesis (1993)
It might look good, but I am definitely not loving it. I can't really show you exactly what feels wrong about this. It looks good, sounds fine, and it looks generally smooth on screen. It just looks like I'm constantly messing up, and while that's half true, the other half is because I'm genuinely annoyed by how the game controls. It reminds me of Sonic, but doesn't play like it exactly. You get a sword, but you can't swing it unless you double tap the jump button, but only if you haven't already jumped high enough to stop yourself from being able to swing at all. That makes for attacks being very unreliable and it takes a lot of adjustment to get past that. It also lacks some enemy consistency/hitboxes, but really it feels like it's missing basic platforming creature comforts.
