HK Tank - Explained (Terminator Lore)

The Hunter Killer Tank is a ground-based combat vehicle built and utilised by SkyNet to patrol the open battlefield and eliminate Tech-Com Human resistance fighters and vehicles.

Its design is derived from that of the original T-1 Terminator design, but developed further and drastically increased in scale, standing several stories tall with a vaguely humanoid shaped tower with a rotating head containing the units sensor-array. Fitted to the front of the vehicle are a set of spotlights for detecting and highlighting targets, and a twin pair of articulated hydraulic arms, likely used for moving debris and wreckage.
For locomotion, the Hunter Killer Tank is fitted with four independent bogies, each with its own tank tread, providing the vehicle with sufficient weight distribution and stability over uneven terrain.

And for weaponry, the HK Tank is equipped with two plasma cannon turrets mounted on each arm of the main tower.
In the first movie, the turrets are depicted as having a single barrel, while in Terminator 2 they each have a twin set of plasma cannons.
The HK Tank has also been seen in different configurations such as a static model with no treads acting as a stationary turret for base defense, as well as models lacking the so called “Head”

With the increase of effective anti-HK tactics by the Resistance over the course of the war, Skynet later started equipping some units with crew compartments, containing on-board endoskeleton Terminators which will disembark the main vehicle and counterattack the human assault teams.

So what do you think of The HK Tanks from the Terminator movies? I for one think they would make for a really intimidating opponent since they’re so big and can vaporise you with a single shot; you’d definitely have to employ guerrilla tactics instead of trying to fight it head on.
