Hollow Knight (Blind) - Episode 50: Hive Knights of the Hexagonal Table
0In today's episode of the "Hollow Knight" playthrough, we explore the rest of the Hive, defeat a bee knight, and get our hands on a charm that would have been invaluable for the White Palace.
Unfortunately, while the Hive's an interesting area that stands out from the rest of Hollownest, what with its primarily yellow color scheme and how it's the only area in the game to feature bees as the main enemy type, it's a relatively small and straightforward area to explore. Though that shouldn't be all that much of a surprise considering that it shares a map with Kingdom's Edge and lacks a stag station.
However, just because the Hive's one of the smallest areas in the game doesn't mean that it doesn't have anything of value. After all, you're going to need to come here if you want to find two of the grubs, one of the mask shards, and a charm, Hiveblood, that's being guarded a bee knight boss, the Hive Knight.
Speaking of Hiveblood, it's an interesting charm in that it allows the player to automatically regain health as long as they don't get hit for a few seconds. However, while that may sound good on paper, the charm proves to be not that viable in a standard build due to enemies being able to easily combo you, as well as the charm requiring four charm slots to equip. However, in the White Palace, where the only threats are spikes and pits, Hiveblood can prove to be invaluable since you can attempt any section that's giving you trouble as many times as you want without fear of death, so long as your willing to wait ten or so seconds after each attempt.
