If you have been following any DC Universe news lately, you'll know by now that there have been many changes. It was announced recently that Henry Cavill will no longer be playing Superman. This was a shock to most comic book movie fans as we were all excited to see the character, especially after the end credit scene in Black Adam.
You may be asking yourself why there was so much back and forth between Henry Cavill, Warner Brothers, and other studio executives regarding the topic of Superman. Why did it seem that Henry Cavill was announced one moment, and then suddenly removed? Well, the answer in short is it really had nothing to do with Henry Cavill, but everything thing it to do with all of the mishandling of Superman's character and core mythos. In other words, Hollywood has a "Superman Problem".
It's no secret that the DC Universe has always struggled with the Man of Steel. Christopher Reeve has been the standard for the character for some time but even then, it is tough to bring a balanced Superman to the big screen. Henry Cavill was a good shot, but ultimately deemed too dark and could never really get off the ground. So what does it take to bring the iconic hero to life and make fans truly happy?
Fans need to see the true version of Superman brought to the big screen. This is the only way to truly redeem the character, and make all parties happy. But Superman as a character has core beliefs and morals that may not sit well with what DC is trying to build, and in our opinion, it's just an excuse.
