Even though I resolutely ignored them for the first 40 hours of my playthrough of Horizon: Zero Dawn, the experience of finally going through the Hunting Ground trials proved to be more worthile than I had anticipated. In particular, these optional challenges did more to teach me about the different weapons (including the ones I'd barely tried at all before) than any of the tutorials or earlier missions in the game. Achieving the highest ranking wasn't too difficult - at least not with the skills and gear I had acquired at that late point in the game - but for the most it required me to be reasonably efficient and utilize a wide range of the available tools.
