In this video I'm doing a comparison of the AMD RYZEN 9 6900HS vs the AMD RYZEN 5 5500U in Horizon Zero Dawn. The comperision shows the major jump in performance between VEGA and RDNA 2. The 680M is AMD's current APU king and the poor VEGA chip in the 5500U is struggling to keep up. the real major difference comes down to the price. You will likely not find any 6900HS systems this year without a dGPU, making the iGPU useless, or they will only be used in expensive ultra portable laptops. the Budget market is stuck with vega for at least another year. So while this shows that the RDNA 2 powered 680M is a monster of a chip, it really will not have much of an impact on the market. What this mostly shows us is what we can expect to see trickle down into the budget market into the future. Really I would not expect anything better than this from both AMD and Intel in a good while. It remains to be seen if AMD will actually continue to compete and improve their design, or if they;re going to do the same as VEGA and keep the design generally the same for the next few years. Hopefully the threat of intel ARC GPUs will be enough to keep AMD competitive.
