Hornby Railways R283 | Class 58 Diesel Locomotive | 58034 BR Railfreight | OO Gauge | Review | HD
This is the second Hornby Class 58 to be covered on this channel and I quite enjoyed this one as well. Here is my review of the Hornby Railways R283 Class 58 Diesel Locomotive that is represented by 58034 named as "Bassetlaw" in the BR Railfreight livery. This model train in OO gauge is 36 years old at the time this video was done in 2024 and was released in 1988.
The model is in great condition and runs superb for its age. This one has no paperwork and was only released in 1988 and 1989 only before it was dropped from the range of model trains by Hornby.
It uses a type 7 motor and it handled the test train with no issues. I took off some points on detail and features because unlike the newer gen models that have working lights and more detail. This Hornby Class 58 does not and there is mostly moulded detail on this model and the tooling dates back to 1982.
These models are ideal for those that are new into the OO gauge model train hobby and these can be bought for a good price but this one I was very lucky to get because it is quite a hard model train to get hold of and I have gratitude to be able to cover this one on my channel after being outbid on the first attempt of buying one of these models. .
