So, I was contacted earlier in the week by fellow YouTuber and all round legend Saturn Memories, to say that Lucky Mountain Games was providing him with an unspecified number of keys for a closed session beta of Hotshot Racing on Steam this weekend. Would I be interested in one...?

I'll be honest right, I don't really get this Cops and Robbers mode. On my first playthrough here, I thought you were supposed to be playing this Chase HQ stylee, bashing into all the other cars. Turns out (I hadn't read the little infomatic thing before starting) you're supposed to be avoiding the cops and everytime they hit you, you lose health and eventually when all your health runs out you become a cop. Ah.

Now, if you play the game as you would want to normally i.e. going fast, you'd try and steam ahead of all the other players and speed off into the sunset. But if you do this, it is literally impossible to avoid the rubber bandy cop cars that will constantly match your speed, and batter and rear shunt you into oblivion. So, I realised (eventually) the key to winning is to just drive really slowly and hang behind the rest of the pack, who all get battered to hell by the cops, which wins you the race by being the last man standing. But, the thing is... doesn't really seem like much fun when your crawling along slowly behind the rest of the pack.

Once you become a cop things get a bit more chase HQ-ish as you then have to bash into the remaining players to take them out, but again I don't really get what the key to winning as a cop is as I was doing this, but then coming in 4th place or 6th place... Yeah, don't get it.

In one game I actually started as a cop, and I'm not sure how. I'd been recording the footage, so I went back to re-watch it to see if I'd done anything differently than normal, but, nope. I guess it's just random?

This mode feels like something that could be awesome, but the mechanics of it just aren't quite right... like driving slowly shouldn't be what wins you the game. Not really sure what the fix could be though. Any ideas...?
