So, I enlisted a couple of my mates to take part in some 3 player games in a few of the different networkable games in Supermodel. My mate Mark's on the left and my other mate Lights is on the right and I'm in the middle.

Now, I made a terrible error in judgement here by choosing the Hornet Classic. I was forgetting that one of the things about the Hornet Classic handling just like the Hornet from Daytona USA 1, is that it doesn't translate well to playing with a pad like I was here and you tend to fishtail a lot. Also, for some reason the Daytona USA 1 gear drift method just wasn't behaving for me here and I kept on sliding too wide and hit the wall on every. Single. Lap.

I think it might be down top the fact the game's only running at about 25fps in real time, which was just twisting my melon man, when it came to the timing. I can do it normally when I'm playing at the right speed and using my racing wheel, honest, check me in single player mode here: https://youtu.be/BvUTSTDv-To
Yeah, yeah, excuses excuses I know... What was also interesting here, was that my mate Mark, who's normally, by his own admission, a bit of a spaz when it comes to gaming, suddenly seemed to just 'get' Daytona USA 2's handling and started playing really well. It made for some super competitive games between the 3 of us, even with the emulators only running at about 25fps. I should've just stuck with the 'Phantom Full Force' like I normally do on this stage... https://youtu.be/d0cyyaqYes8

If you've been following my Supermodel network videos, you probably know this already, but I'll repeat it for anyone who doesn't know: At present, in order to get the Supermodel network running, you need to disable multithreading on the emulators, which makes them run much slower than if Supermodel used it's default multithreading option, i.e. using all you PC's CPU cores as opposed to only one like it currently has to in network mode. As the default speed here that we're actually playing at is about 25fps the sound comes out like a garbled mess at this speed, so I've muted it, sped the video up as if it were playing at the correct speed and added new audio in.

One of the biggest improvements to the network recently, is the fact the Scud Race Beginner Day stage is now no longer buggy and filled with graphical artefacts which crash the game. The network code has also been replaced with TCP which means you can pause the emulation and it won't time out. I think this refers to the fact that now if you close one of the emulators, the other one doesn't immediately hang like it used to.

You can download this network build yourself from here (Thanks to Conversus W. Vans from the Supermodel forum for compiling and sharing):
