How Accurate is Batman Beyond’s Depiction of the Future? The Series was animated in 1999.

Batman Beyond Takes Place in 2039, and while that is still 14 years from now, They got a lot of things right and a lot of things that seem too distant for 14 years or Outdated even for 2025.

What they got right: A near cashless society. Everyone in Batman Beyond pays with Credit, and in current times less and less people are using physical cash, I can only image how much more this will progress in 14 years.

Next is Virtual Reality Gaming with Eye Gear, there are many VR type games in the world today.

Robotic assistance and AI, they are more advanced in the Batman Beyond Cartoon, almost human, but in today’s society a more primitive version of this exits, and could get better in 14 years.

What they got Wrong:

Cell Phones, the Phones in the Batman Beyond Series are stuck in 2010, with keyboards and no touchscreen, almost like Black Berry Phones.

CD Disks, CDs technically still exist, they are almost phased out with Cloud based file sharing, burning things onto a Disk is a nearly phased out technology, I can’t imagine it being that popular in 2039.

And Flying Cars, while there is still 14 years, I doubt flying cars will become a global form of transportation like it is in the Cartoon. Especially one that hovers like a hover craft in the cartoon, mass producing small planes or helicopters is entirely different than a Mid Sized sedan that happens to float.
