How Can The Steam Deck Screen Be Sharp If Resolution Is Only 1280 x 800? My Phone Has More Pixels!
A quick video explaining why at only 800p the Steam Deck actually has a very good screen compared to computer monitors and TVs, and how it can look sharp even though it has a lower resolution.
The answer is of course that the resolution, or pixel density, of the Steam Deck is crammed into a much smaller screen than your PC Monitor. The Steam Deck OLED has a 7.4" screen which means that at a PPI (Pixels Per Inch) of 204, compares favorably with a 24" Monitor running at 1080p, which has a PPI of 92.
You do of course have the Steam Decks screen much closer to your eyes than a TV or Monitor, but hopefully this video removes any doubts you might have about the image quality of the Steam Deck screen.
Thanks, Rob.
