How Dead Cells & Little Kids Sparked Nuclear Blaze
Nuclear Blaze is a firefighting platformer from Sebastian Benard, one of the key developers behind Dead Cells. I was interested in the game for its premise, as games about firefighters in general are so rare, but also because of this shared history. Upon playing it, I picked up on multiple elements that seemed to carry over from Dead Cells into Nuclear Blaze.
Sebastien’s child was also a key influence on the game, and not just as a little kid that loves firefighters. He also suggested a few ideas of his own and became the target demo for Nuclear Blaze’s Kid Mode. In fact, that level of accessibility and feedback is also a key part of the game’s development.
We dive into all that and more in this video. If you’re interested in trying out Nuclear Blaze yourself, you can pick it up on Steam. We recommend it for Dead Cells fans, especially those with kids of their own!
