Explanation of how voice diaphragms work on gas masks/respirator.
A voice diaphragm also known as a voice-emitter is usually a thin piece of metal or plastic that is stretched over a hole in the respirator, when the wearer of the mask talks, the thin disc vibrates and bends, amplifying the voice of the wearer. The larger the diaphragm the better they work for the most part.
Some masks use unorthodox methods for voice diaphragms such as the "voice trumpet" in the S10 and other Avon masks or metal grates outside of the exhale valves that vibrate as the user speaks with the mask on.
