The CPI numbers for January for India and the US were released this week. But how does inflation affect our wallet and our wealth over a longer period of time? Inflation dilutes purchasing power. If you are a seller, you would love inflation and if you are a buyer you would hate inflation. A certain amount of inflation is good for the economy and the RBI hopes to target inflation at 4%. But the RBI also has a tolerance band that allows it to tolerate and calibrate inflation of up to 6%. So under these scenarios, how would it impact your wealth over a period of 20 and 30 years?
