How Fast can you beat Pokemon Emerald with only Poison type Pokemon?
Hey there friends! I'm a big fan of doing monotype playthroughs in Pokemon games, so let's see how fast we can go with every type! Starting with the Poison type!
Rules:
#1. No overleveling past the next gym leader's ace; This prevents me from (hopefully) grinding a hole into the ground and steamrolling the game for free.
#2. No items in battle, held items are fine; Self explanatory. Nobody likes items and neither do I!
#3. Only use X type in battle; This run is Poison so only Poison types can be used to do anything. HM users do not count and things may be switch trained if they evolve into a Poison type. If I am in a double battle or something gets Roar'd in that's not Poison type, the offending Pokemon must switch out immediately or waste it's turns doing as little as possible.
#4. Must catch every Pokemon of X type before beating the Champion; Self explanatory again. Every Poison type must be logged in the Pokedex that is obtainable in Emerald before the credits roll!
#5. Only 1 "boosting move" per outing per Pokemon; What this means is that I am only allowed to use one (1) instance of something like Dragon Dance or Harden per Pokemon's appearance in battle. This is to prevent gameplay where I just setup 6 Attack boosts and sweep everything for free every fight. If I swap out or am forced out, this resets and I can use it again if the Pokemon comes back into the battle. Moves like Metal Claw that are attack moves that can raise stats do not count for this rule and I can get a Metal Claw boost and then still use Harden or anything alongside it. (I may dump this rule in the future if it hampers enjoyability for either my playing or the viewer watching.)
#6. This is NOT a Nuzlocke run; The reason why this is not a Nuzlocke is because certain types gain access to things like Explosion or Destiny Bond that are basically unusable in normal Nuzlocke gameplay. I am trying to (unscientifically) compare how the types stack up to one another so this rule is to allow every type to use whatever it has at it's disposal!
