So this is the first time I’m doing this ‘How good is this unit’ format at which I gave a final verdict score (out of 10) on newest unit that I pulled (won’t be doing for unit I skip, since I didn’t have them). Do note that this is purely my opinion and it shouldn’t be a 100% guide for anyone in particular.

In the next video I will be doing this format in commentary form but for this time due to some issue, I had to stick with typing out for now.

So I tested out Sabin in four different stages:
1. Edward Lost Chapter
2. Strago Lost Chapter
3. Arc 3 Chapter 3 Part 2
4. Desch Lost Chapter

And so far the only run that really showcase his strength in the team is this one.

For Strago Lost Chapter, all his skills are wind + holy based, so he can only increase the orb count by 1 (even with Ashe in the team), and besides his LD and S2, all his other skills are mainly ST. So he’s not very effective in that stage, plus when the bosses gained the blue aura, his ‘melee attack’ will be absorbed, but since he imperils his own element, it will be 0 instead (still not helping). The stage was largely carried by COD friend and a BT unit I took (WOL).

For Arc 3 Chapter 3 Part 2, since his skill is most ST, I find it hard to break the bosses unless I’m using LD or S2, which is quite limited. And I brought iroha & Bartz for the support but Bartz BT + COD BT in the end carried the stage.

For Desch Lost Chapter, I run him with Cor and Porom, yes the stage is clear but the damage even with Cor aura and debuffs + his own imperil at the end was so subpar I did not enjoy that run.

So Edward run here, I run him intending him as the only DPS (never considered Seifer as one), and in all honesty, I’m really more surprise with Seifer than Sabin, he solo delay the enemy so well (with Sabin helping him out a little here and there) that I ended up am really impressed with him I bought his HA.

In the end, I decided to show this instead. My verdict on him is: 4/10

Focusing on the good:
1. He’s an all rounded unit which packs in delay, battery, damage and high turn rate in his kit.
2. He has dual element and can self imperil, making it hard to lock him out of fight (only Nine’s LC is not suitable for him).
3. His ignored defense kit can comes in clutch for bosses with high defends.

Focusing on the bad:
1. While his ignored defense is good in giving out huge chunk of damage, it is still not ‘rainbow damage’ aka Maximum Damage therefore he still needs supportive auras to maximise that damage.
2. He’s a Jack of all trade but master of none, while great as a third selection add up in the party, he’s rather lacking if you’re aiming to only have to fulfil one specific role.
3. His lack of AOE bravery can be a big issue especially when he doesn’t have instant turn rate like Tifa.
4. His EX recast is very slow as compared to other units which might bring some issue to his Longevity.
5. Note that while he can ignore defends, he doesn’t ignore boss mechanism that renders your bravery to 1. (E.g: Ciaran’s Lost Chapter, Bartz Bear Event etc)

Overall, that’s my verdict on Sabin, again note that this is purely my opinion and it shouldn’t be a 100% guide for anyone in particular. But I do hope it provides some insight on whether or not he’ll suit your play-style.
