Stimulus checks (also called Economic Impact Payments) intended to ease the financial stress of the coronavirus pandemic are officially on their way. Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, most Americans are in line for a one-time direct cash payment of up to $1,200, with married couples getting up to $2,400. Families will get an additional $500 per child. Though the first direct deposits of stimulus payments have already begun arriving as of April 11, physical checks are expected to be mailed starting April 24. The physical checks will come with “President Donald J. Trump” printed on the memo line, though President Trump did originally push to have his official signature on the checks.
