How much Vitamin D does our body require
How much Vitamin D does our body require
Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in enhancing our immune system and maintaining healthy and strong bones. The levels of Vitamin D in our body decrease due to various factors such as aging, skin pigmentation, and location.
In 2014, vitamin D3 concentration was the 5th most common laboratory test done in a Medicare program. To maintain adequate levels of Vitamin D, experts recommend getting exposure to sunlight. When we get regular sun exposure, our skin synthesizes vitamin D resulting in increased levels. However, it is important to know how much sunlight is needed and how much Vitamin D our body requires. The National Institutes of Health recommends different daily allowances of Vitamin D based on age and other factors. The amount of vitamin D we need each day depends on our age.
