There's so many different types of video games nowadays that it feels like there's something for just about anyone. You could enjoy something like Fortnite for its wacky crossover shenanigans, Kingdom Hearts for its expertly designed combat and story, or Star Wars Kinect because we get it you’re different. But with how many different types of games that are out there, how does one decide what their favorite is? After all, there are so many different types of games that set out to do so many different things, it can be daunting to choose just one to definitively stand above all the others. Is your favorite game the one that's the most fun? Is it the one that had the biggest emotional impact? Is it the one that has the most content? The best story? Is it the one you can sit down and blast through no matter what you're going through and still have a great time? Is it just one that makes you laugh a lot? Any of these could be a reason for a particular game being your favorite, and every one of them is just as valid as the rest. Unless you like Danganronpa then you're just weird. For a lot of people, myself included, it's just a feeling you get. The game just has something about it that connects with you, even if you aren't able to put it into words. The game will just immediately pop into your head with no warning and just stay there rent free. For the longest time, that's been how I’ve felt about my favorite game. It's constantly been on my mind since I first played it back in 2018, and even though I’ve played a good number of games before and since then, none of them have come anywhere close to topping it. It's a niche game I’m sure you’ve never heard of before, It's a little cult classic known as Persona 5.
Persona 5 is a game that, for better or for worse, I’ve thought about a lot over the past few years. I bought it on a whim on the way out of a gamestop one summer, and I can’t say I've had a game hit me quite like P5 did and continues to. Just about everything about it spoke to me on a personal level, its characters, its gameplay, its music, its UI, its story, I adored literally everything the game had to offer. Even 6 years later…(i cant believe its been that long). Even 6 years later, having played it a few times along with the plethora of spinoffs the series has to offer, that magic and sense of awe I got when playing the game for the first time never seems to disappear. So today, I want to find out why. I want to take a deep dive into the game, to figure out just what it is about this game that has kept me entranced for so many years. What about this game makes me think about it on an almost daily basis. What is it about this game that makes it my favorite game of all time?
