Pokemon Scarlet and Violet just released and they are masterpieces, just kidding, they’re awful. Now there are lots of things about Scarlet and Violet that suck, the hilarious glitches, the Playstation 2 graphics and the boring story just to name a few, but there’s one thing about these games that makes me wanna cry, and in this video I will be talking about what that thing is.

Alrighty, so Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released last friday, so around 10 days ago, and as I said earlier, there is so much wrong with these games, but recently, the sales figures for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were released, and… wow. These numbers are actually mind blowing.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first 72 hours, they have sold over 10 million copies, that is insane.

For reference, are already the 15th best selling Nintendo Switch games, overtaking Splatoon 3, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and it has barely been a week, that is crazy. It’s even crazier to think how much more sales the game is going to get in the lead up to Christmas and with the winter season approaching.

So if you somehow don’t understand why it’s a bad thing that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sold so well, GameFreak and Nintendo are essentially being rewarded for putting out the laziest, most underbaked Pokemon games ever, and this just sends the message to GameFreak that they don’t need to make good games and listen to the fans, and that’s really sad.

With these two games selling 10 million copies, why should GameFreak or Nintendo ever spend more 2 or 3 years developing a pair of incredible mainline Pokemon games that make fans happy, when they can just put out a crappy mainline Pokemon game every November that sells really well.

This exact same situation happened last year with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Those two games were the laziest remakes I’ve ever seen in my 17 years of existence, and they sold 6 million copies in their first week, but now Scarlet and Violet have nearly doubled those sales in only 3 days, and they’re littered with glitches and bugs and aren’t remakes of previously adored games.

We’re never going to get good mainline Pokemon games, I’m just gonna say it, Sword and Shield were awful, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were lazy, and Scarlet and Violet are a combination of both, being lazy and awful.

And we don’t actually know if it’s GameFreak being lazy, or if it’s the higher ups at Nintendo giving GameFreak impossible deadlines that don’t allow them to make good games, we can only guess, and my guess is that it’s Nintendo giving GameFreak stupidly tight deadlines, as in the past, GameFreak have made incredible Pokemon games so they do know what they’re doing, and in the Switch era, we’ve also seen Nintendo become more and more lazy with their own games.

But hey, this video isn’t gonna do anything, the next Pokemon games that release in November of 2023 will be even worse, and will probably sell even more copies then Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and yeah, the video’s done.
