Lately, I’ve been thinking about a specific type of Crusader Kings player—the ones who prefer to sit back, relax, and watch their dynasty thrive through sheer wealth. In other words, those who enjoy playing tall. A crucial aspect of playing tall is boosting development in your counties. Why? Well, higher development means more taxes, bigger levies, faster innovation growth, and even allows larger armies to move through without depleting their supplies. That last part surprised me—it doesn’t make much sense, but apparently, it’s true.
So, instead of playing a traditional tall game, today we’re going to see just how fast we can push a single county to 100 development. We’re starting in 1066, which gives us access to our guy Veteslav—a prime candidate for this run. He’s already swimming in wealth, his lands are perfectly set up with cultural bonuses, and as a vassal of the HRE, we won’t have to worry about invaders while also benefiting from our liege’s development. Plus, playing as Czech comes with a couple of nice little perks. But I’m getting ahead of myself—let’s jump over to past me.
