How They Ruined Cid Highwind in FF7 Rebirth. In the original Final Fantasy 7, he smoked cigarettes, he had a pack of smokes behind his ears, and he swore like a sailor. He was rough around the edges, far from perfect, and pushed the boundaries of what you could say or do in video games at the time. OG FFVII was unusually mature for its time. Whereas in Rebirth, he has censored worse than Sanji in the One Piece Funimation dub. He now feels like safe, censored PG anime character. And you can't even play as him. He's just a fast-travel NPC.

From my first playthrough and reactions to this turn-based combat dark fantasy. A video game by Sandfall, a French company with exceptional talent, made up of developers who left Ubisoft. It feels like the Final Fantasy game I always wanted. Incredible writing, music and direction. Featuring a great cast of characters, with fine voice acting from Charlie Cox (Gustave), Kirsty Rider (Lune), Jennifer English (Maelle), Shala Nyx (Sciel), Ben Starr (Verso) and Andy Serkis (Renoir). Featuring an awesome system of Parry & Dodge timing, and QTE. Drawing influence from unexpected places, like Legend of Dragoon, Dark Souls, Super Mario RPG, FF7 and Chrono Trigger.
