Adding profiles to Google Chrome ensures that each profile user can have their own custom experience in the web browser on the same computer. Alternatively, if you've got multiple Google accounts, such as one for work and one for personal business, then you can have a profile associated with each account, which will keep the bookmarks and history separate. It should be noted that you can't create profiles in the Google Chrome app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Now let's walk through the steps to add Google Chrome profiles in the desktop version of the web browser.

Step 1. Launch Google Chrome on your PC, and then click the profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen. A menu is displayed.

Step 2. Click "Add" in the menu. The Add Person window is displayed.

Step 3. Enter a name for your new Google Chrome account. Then select a profile image, and then click to choose whether or not you want to create a desktop shortcut icon to Google Chrome for this user. Click "Add" after supplying this information. The Make Chrome Your Own screen is displayed.

Step 4. If you don't want to link a Google account to this profile, you can click "Get Started" to go through the process to start using this Google Chrome profile, which will only be accessible on that computer. However, in this example I'll be linking this Google Chrome profile to an existing Google account, so I'll click "Already a Chrome user? Sign in." A Sign in to Chrome screen is shown.

Step 5. Enter the email address and password associated with the Google account you want to link to your new Google Chrome profile. You'll land on the Turn on Sync screen. Choose whether or not you want to turn on the Sync feature. You'll land on your Google Chrome home screen, where you'll now see the Google Chrome account profile you added is now the profile you're using.

Step 6. You can switch between Google Chrome profiles at any time by clicking the profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen, and then clicking the profile you want to switch to in the menu. If you have multiple Google Chrome profiles, it's important to remember that whichever profile you were using in the last instance of the Chrome browser you closed on this computer will be the profile you start with the next time you open the Google Chrome browser.
