How to beat Psycho Mantis without controller port 2 (MGS Psycho Mantis alternate strategy)
217To usually damage Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid on PlayStation, you need to unplug your controller and change it to port 2.
However, there might be a reason why you can't - perhaps the port is broke, or playing using a wireless controller which means you can't change ports easily.
Thankfully, there's another way to fight Mantis without switching ports.
To do this, at the start of the battle, call Campbell over and over until they explain the port trick.
Now, purposely die, and return to the battle. Call Campbell again, who will give you the alternative method, which requires you to destroy the two statues in the upper half of the room first.
All the above steps must be completed - you cannot damage the statues before the explanation or without dying first.
From there, the remainder of the battle is the same. Good luck!
