46How to beat Shara Ishvalda solo with the Lance! (Head broken twice and Tenderplates collected as well) This is a live run walkthrough with commentary on how to beat the final boss of the Iceborne story Shara Ishvalda with pre endgame gear. This monster can be a nightmare for the Lance & Gunlance because you can't just tank all of its attacks like with many other monsters, which forces you to evade and be more mobile in general. However, with the right tactics and armor skills, this fight is totally possible and you can get the best rewards as well!
Gear:
- Minqar al-Nasr II (+25 affinity)
- Fulgur Helm B+ (Weakness Exploit +1)
- Fellshroud Mail B+ (Recovery Speed +2) + Vaal Super Recovery
- Fellshroud Braces B+ (Recovery Up +2) + Vaal Super Recovery
- Odogaron Coil B+ (Critical Eye +2)
- Damascus Greaves B+ (Guard +1)
- Master's Charm (Critical Eye +3)
Tools:
- Temporal Mantle (great for claw shots to weaken the head and front legs)
- Ghillie Mantle (farcaster away to camp when the second phase starts, grab a rock from camp, get back to battlefield with Ghillie Mantle on, throw rock near environmental trap at the wall to lure Shara there, and blow 2 small barrel bombs there to collapse the mountain side on Shara; do this 3 times if possible)
Palico:
- Coral Orchestra for all the useful boosts, like Health Regeneration, Unlimited Stamina, Stun Resistance etc.
Set bonus skills:
- Vaal Soulvein Super Recovery (automatic health regeneration, super useful!)
Armor skills:
- Critical Eye +7 (max affinity if possible)
- Guard +4 (3 or 5 is fine as well)
- Recovery Up +3 (makes Vaal Super Recovery health regeneration heal more and gives you more health from healing items)
- Recovery Speed +3 (speeds up Vaal Super Recovery healing the red portion of the health gauge)
- Weakness Exploit +3 (more affinity for hitting weakspots)
- Defense Boost +2 (automatic with the Damascus piece)
- Tremor Resistance +1 (ALWAYS HAVE THIS, negates the slight tremors in the fight)
- Health Boost +1 (put 2 or 3 for more health if you want)
- Critical Boost +1 (more critical hit damage)
- Agitator +1 (more attack and affinity when Shara is angry)
- Evade Extender +1 (ALWAYS HAVE THIS, helps the Lance & Gunlance guard hop away longer distances, making evading attacks easier)
- Aquatic / Polar Mobility +1 (ALWAYS HAVE THIS, stops the sand pools from slowing your movement down)
- Non-elemental Boost +1 (gives more attack power for a non-elemental weapon)
Other skills to consider:
- Quick Sheathe (get away faster)
- Stun Resistance (if you have problems getting stunned, although the Palico's Coral Orchestra gives you this as well though)
Avoid:
- Guard Up (the small wind beams you cannot block, and the big wind blast attack has 8 consecutive hits which will drain all your stamina in mere seconds!)
How to get the Shara Ishvalda Tenderplates:
You'll have to break the head twice, so keep poking at it from the front and from beneath the chest area (carve the part twice that flies off when you finally succeed). Break both of the front claws to make Shara fall over twice. Use the Temporal Mantle to grab the head with the claw repeatedly, and weaken it. For actual farming, get better endgame gear of course.
