Maybe you (or worse yet your kids) ordered something on Amazon by mistake. Maybe you ordered an item and are having second thoughts. Or, maybe you found a better deal after you ordered your item. Whatever your reason, it's a relatively headache-free process to cancel an Amazon order before it's shipped. If you paid for the item you cancelled with a credit card, you should see a credit for the cancelled item within three to five days. Alternatively, if you're not able to successfully cancel your order, your only options are to deny delivery of the item or return it.
And now, let's walk through how to cancel an Amazon order on your iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile app.
Step 1. Launch the Amazon app on your mobile device. Log in to your Amazon account if prompted. You'll land on the home screen for your Amazon account.
Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper left corner of the screen. The Menu icon features three horizontal lines. A menu flys in from the left side of the screen.
Step 3. Tap "Your Orders." The Your Orders screen appears.
Step 4. Tap the item you want to cancel the order for on the Your Orders screen. A screen displaying information associated with the delivery of that particular item appears.
Step 5. Scroll down to the bottom of the information screen until you see the Order Info section. Tap "Cancel Order" in the Order Info section. The Request Cancellation screen appears, with a message displayed along the top that cancellation can't be guaranteed.
Step 6. Tap to place a check mark in the box that appears to the left of the item you want to cancel. Additionally, tap the "Cancellation Reason" field that appears beneath the item you want to cancel. A list of order cancellation reasons appears on the screen. Tap the cancel reason that best summarizes why you want to cancel your order. You'll return to the Request Cancellation screen, where the cancel reason you selected is now displayed beneath the item you want to cancel delivery of.
Step 7. Tap the orange "Request Cancellation" button that appears beneath the cancel reason if you're certain you want to cancel your order. The next screen will feature a message at the top informing you that your cancellation was requested. Additionally, the screen will also display your order date, order number, and the total dollar amount associated with your order, along with your payment information. Shortly after placing your request to cancel your order, you'll receive an email from Amazon either confirming that your order was able to be successfully cancelled, or informing you that Amazon wasn't able to cancel your order before it shipped. If your order isn't able to be cancelled, you can either refuse delivery of the order or return it.
