Video Transcript:
You may not want everyone who has access to your Netflix account to be able to watch anything they want on Netflix. For example, if you have younger kids, you may not want them to be able to instantly turn on something that's either rated R or NC-17. Netflix makes turning on parental controls easy, and slots all content ratings into four buckets: Little Kids, Older Kids, Teens, and Adults.

And now, let's walk through how to set up Netflix parental controls.

Step 1. Open your Web browser and navigate to netflix.com. Click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the screen if you're not signed in to your Netflix account automatically. The Sign In screen appears.

Step 2. Enter the email address and password associated with your Netflix account, and then click "Sign In." Select a profile if prompted. You'll arrive at the home screen for your Netflix account.

Step 3. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of your profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click "Account." You'll arrive at the Account screen.

Step 4. Click "Parental Controls" in the Settings section. The Parental Controls screen appears.

Step 5. Enter the password associated with your account and then click the blue "Continue" button. The next screen will prompt you for a PIN code before you can establish content viewing restrictions.

Step 6. Click "Create PIN." Four blank fields appear. Enter the four numbers you want to use as the PIN code for your Netflix account, and then click the blue "Save" button to set your PIN code.

Step 7. Click the highest level of content you want people using your account to be able to watch without entering the PIN code. The content level that people can watch without entering a PIN code is shaded green, and the content that will require people to enter a PIN code is shaded in gray. Click the blue "Save" button after making your selection. You'll be returned to the Accounts screen, where a message in green appears at the top of the screen informing you that the changes to your parental control settings have been saved. Anyone using your Netflix account will be required to enter the 4-digit PIN prior to watching any content blocked by the PIN.

You can remove the parental control restrictions at any time by navigating back to the Parental Controls section, clicking "Adults," and then clicking "Save." You'll no longer be required to enter a PIN code.
