Have you ever noticed your Apple iPhone or iPad trying to connect or share information with other Apple devices when you bring them close together, and you're not quite sure how you feel about it? This feature, known as 'Bringing Devices Together,' can be super handy, but there are times when you might want to disable it for privacy or convenience reasons.
Now let's walk through the steps to disable Bringing Devices Together on your Apple iPhone or iPad.
Step 1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. You'll land on the Settings menu.
Step 2. Scroll down this screen, and then tap "General" in this menu. The General screen is shown.
Step 3. Tap "AirDrop" in the list of options. The AirDrop screen is displayed.
Step 4. Find the Start Sharing By section, and then tap to toggle off "Bringing Devices Together" in this section. The Bringing Devices Together feature, which lets you share numbers through NameDrop, share photos and more by holding your iPhone or iPad close to another device, will be disabled going forward.
